The World History Center grants a World History Teaching Certificate to practicing teachers and pre-service teachers who had taken two graduate courses in world history, have developed a substantial lesson or unit in world history, and who have otherwise shown excellence in the teaching of world history.

Certificates were first awarded in 2000. At the award ceremony, at the Massacusetts State House, certificates were presented to: Abigail Cox, Julie Gauthier, Kristin Palmer, Lori Shaller, and Rebecca Vizulis.

Recipients of the certificate earned graduate course credit in History and Education at Northeastern University by participating in workshops of the center.
